Photos from the Libation to Hephaistos

  Photos from Libation to Hephaistos

from the Hellenion Proto-Demos tes Hagnes Persephones, 12 March 2006

Even though it was a rainy and foggy day, the libation to Hephaistos went really well.  We didn't set up any altar, as we typically don't when we hold outdoor libations.  We basically gathered in a pavilion in a local park because it was raining.

Here you see three guests offering libations.

Here, again 3 more offering libations.  That's me in the center, and the big guy is my son.

Here, we have just lit the incense and I am reading the Orphic Hymn to Hephaistos.

Three more guests making personal offerings.  Several people offered birdseed, and it just seemed appropriate to leave it near this tree.  It had stopped raining for the most part at this point as well.

Here is a shot of the final libation which marked the end of the ritual.  Following this we all went to a local restaurant to eat, relax, and of course talk!

The script from the ritual is posted here.
